CAT & MOUSE

A TWO IN ONE, DEBUT ALBUM

In the north we make our own rules. The seasons and their hours of sunlight are cyclical; the tasks of the summer are connected to survival of the winter. Dualities and multiplicities abound — dark/light, predator/prey, sky/mountain, river/sea… Many of us up here work a day job to make our artwork possible. My heart sings in folk and jazz (and pop, and choral…!) and to honor that, my first album will be split, in two very different styles, with two very different bands, recorded in two studios in two different states, all to land on one complete disc, coming April 2026.

CAT

Recorded at Frostline Studio in Anchorage, and arranged by Spencer Edgers, the first half of the record features many of Alaska’s premier jazz musicians, including Ed Littlefield, Chazz Gist, Alex Cruver, Yngvil Van Guttu, Kat Moore, Lindsey Clark, and so many more. Featuring a full horn and string section, the Cat half of the record spans moody ballads and quick, swinging jazz bops.

MOUSE

Recorded at Sage Arts outside of Seattle, Washington, with the help of Josh Fortenbery, Sam Roberts, Marshall Bovee, Alex Nelson, Paige Sparks, and Liz Snyder, the folk-rock half of the album brings full-band life to songs Taylor has been playing across Alaska for years.
